The soul of d'Artagnan, the famous musketeer, lies on land of rounded hills ; between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, where the special light is reflected by the white stones.

With a very rich historical heritage, the Gers is famous for UNESCO world heritage sites. The Gers includes a section of the Santiago de Compostela road which goes from Lectoure to Condom, the cathedral of Auch, the collegiate church of La Romieu and the bridge of Artigues, one of the rare civil bridges built by pilgrims that still exists today.

Here, you will discover abbeys which have witnessed important religious events, numerous round or square ancient country-houses, wonderful small villages which will enchant your eyes, but also charming castles!

But the Gers, more than just having this historic past, is a land of traditions which will offer you each day a new discovery: the bullfight, the local products (the Armagnac, the “Floc de Gascogne”, the wines, the duck or goose “foie gras”, the duck confit) and a festive mentality you can meet during village feasts and during the numerous and famous festivals (Marciac, Vic Fezensac, Fleurance, Sarrant, Auch…).

Gascony Wines:

The cultivation of vines in Gascony goes back to the Gallo Roman times. The Gersois vineyards are primarily situated in the western region. One can enjoy and take back fantastic wine and liqueurs.
There are five wellknown wines.

Liqueurs, Armagnac and Floc:

Armagnac, classified in Haut Armagnac and Bas Armagnac, is the oldest brandy of France. The wine was brought by the Romans, the still by the Arabs and the oak barrel by the Gauls. The result of this association makes the armagnac something to enjoy during the meal (trou Gascon) or at the end of a meal (digestive). Floc is a mellow wine, to be consumed very cold. It's a blend of the must of the grape and armagnac.
Red or white, it's served as an aperitif and is excellent with melon and cheese.

Duck and Goose:

In Gers, geese and ducks are part of the landscape. It's here that you can taste delicious foie gras, barbecued magret or, why not, a delicious confit (conserve of goose or duck) accompanied by small sauteed potatoes.... Perfect!
